A Trip to Kra-Bae (Re: Krabi) - Food Edition
Sawadeeka Patootie!
Flipping my calendar to see that finally July is here and it means it is time for my Krabi trip! (Okay, now it has ended *sobs*)

Who else agrees that window seating is the best seat you can ever get? (except for having to bother other passengers when you want to go to the washroom).
Here is a breathtaking view of the sky before I landed in Krabi International Airport <3

Now, let's talk about the most important thing: FOOD! (yes, with a bold and caps lock)
As soon as I have arrived and checked in, I treated myself right away with a ice blended coconut milkshake (35 baht) that was available right opposite the hotel and tasted super creamy and coconut-like! I bet we all have tasted those coconut shake that is either too watery, not creamy enough or consisted of 90% ice instead of the actual coconut shake, but this one is definitely not. It has just the right amount of sweetness and creaminess, we came back on the second day for more but the store was no where to be found :(
When it was time for dinner, my boyfriend introduced me to this Jame Food Center that is just five minutes away from the hotel where we stayed in. Here, you can find all sorts of Thai food and also of course, fresh delicious seafood! (All hail yummy seafood) We were so hungry as we missed our lunch and were ready to bombard ourselves with some heavenly goodness so we ordered our favorite dishes: Crab, Fish and Clams (okay, this is his favorite)!
To be honest, I am not a fan of clams because I hate the smells and texture. It is always too fishy and too chewy for my appetite so most of the time I would rather skip this. However, one fine day, I decided maybe I should give this a try and surprisingly, it tasted good. The clams are everything but fishy and it tasted really fresh. I was glad to find that it was not overflowing with excessive amount of juice that made it unappetizing for me. When you manage to turn a non-clams-lover into a clam-eater it means you have succeeded in life. Yessss? (please just agree with me)
We also had this big grilled fish (200 baht) that was the size of my two palms combined and maybe more. I rarely go for fish because I am always too lazy to separate the bones from its meat but this fish was really full of meat and I didn't need to 'fight' with the bones. The fish was just simply grilled with the scales on it without any sauce except for lemongrass that was inserted inside the fish which I believe has made the fish tastes really fresh (the freshest I have ever tasted) paired with a Thai chili that gave a refreshing spicy and sourish taste.
I have also save the best for the last - my Crab-o-Love!
We are a huge fan of crab so when we saw crab, we ordered crab, two of it. (140 baht each). We had a mini heart attack when we realized that we just ordered a sauce-less grilled crab and could not imagine how bland would it taste, we were mentally regretting our choice until we have our first bite of the crab and it took us by surprise that the crab was so sweet and the meat was so solid. It is the sweetest crab meat I have ever had in my life, it was the bomb and I am not even exaggerating. It was so good on its own to the point that you do not have to complement it with chili. It was really love at first taste <3
My boyfriend went to Krabi a week before me and could not stop telling me how amazing is Thailand's 7-eleven and Family Mart, and I couldn't help but to agree. Look at how many kinds of microwave foods available? And it's definitely cheaper and tastier than all the kinds we have in Malaysia. I was a true fan of the ham and cheese toast, to the point that I wanted to bring it back but was enlightened that it would not be a good idea considering how long I need to travel. However, I have made a promise to myself that the next time I am going to Thailand, I will find it and I will buy it!
Lastly, what is life without ice cream?
It would be a hot and boring one, I believe (at least for me). Hahaha!
I know this ice cream is available back in Malaysia, but why eat it in Malaysia when you can eat it at Krabi? Okay, this is nonsense, I just feel like eating it cause dessert is a must after dinner. How else can you gain unnecessary weight? Yes, of course, ice cream! We decided to go for the lemon flavored ice cream (80 baht), it tasted fine but I enjoyed how they prepared it.
I wish I could have eaten more food, but I will definitely make it up on my next trip :3 The foods here are good and they are definitely cheaper so I better try to enlarge my stomach before my next visit to make sure that I can gobble more delicious foods!
